The Centers for Multiple Sclerosis welcomed more than 90 attendees from across Southwest Florida to its inaugural Multiple Sclerosis Health and Wellness Symposium on November 6, 2025, in Estero. The daylong event brought together patients, caregivers, and local healthcare professionals to share the latest information and resources supporting those living with multiple sclerosis (MS).

MC Christy Soto from Gulf Coast News kept the day’s activities moving forward as four local experts in MS care led engaging sessions covering treatment options, wellness strategies, and emerging research in this rapidly evolving field.

Dr. Catherine Bergmann, Clinical Neuropsychologist at Collier Neurological Specialists, captivated the audience with her presentation “It’s Not Just in Your Head: Emotional Health in MS.” She explored the connection between physical and emotional well-being, highlighting the importance of addressing both aspects in effective MS care.

Dr. Patricia Izbicki, Neuroscientist and Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University, as well as Engagement Manager at Mirada Life Sciences, shared practical, science-based tools in her session “From Rhythm to Results: Evidence-Based Music Strategies for MS.” Her presentation emphasized how music can be a free and accessible way to support health outcomes.

Following a luncheon sponsored by TG Therapeutics, attendees enjoyed the chance to meet with local service providers offering programs and support for the MS community. Dr. Mollie Venglar, Neurologic Physical Therapist, then discussed “Life in Balance,” guiding participants on how to maintain independence and quality of life while managing the challenges of MS.

Rounding out the educational sessions, Dr. Matthew Baker, Board-Certified Neurologist at Collier Neurological Specialists, shared encouraging insights into ongoing research focused on repairing myelin—the protective sheath vital to nerve health in the brain and spinal cord.

The event concluded with an uplifting performance by a group of the Center’s own clients—“sit-down” comedians who brought laughter and inspiration to close out the day on a positive note.

“For nearly 25 years, the Centers for Multiple Sclerosis has been a source of strength and hope for those living with MS,” said Kay Jasso, CEO of the Centers for Multiple Sclerosis. “If you’re living with MS, please know that you’re not alone. We’re here to walk beside you every step of the way.”

Registration for the 2025 Symposium reached capacity well before the event, reflecting the growing interest in community-based MS support. Plans are already underway for next year’s symposium, which will move to a larger venue to accommodate demand.

The Centers for Multiple Sclerosis extends its heartfelt gratitude to the generous sponsors and medical professionals whose contributions made this milestone event possible.
