Common Symptoms
Fatigue
A weariness or lack of energy that significantly interferes with everyday activities. This can be the primary symptom in many MS patients.
Numbness
Numbness or tingling, most commonly in the face, arms and legs. The sensation can be mild or it may interfere with the ability to use a limb, chew safely, write, walk or get dressed.
Imbalance
Difficulty walking and moving due to lack of balance, muscle weakness, and lack of sensory perception is common. Many clients benefit from mobility assistive devices.
Vision
Blurry vision, lack of contrast and painful eye movement are frequently early symptoms of MS.
Bladder / Bowel Problems
Bladder and bowel problems are common, but can be improved through diet and fluid management, and medication.
Spasticity
Muscle spasms and stiffness of the limbs which can lead to mobility difficulties.
Dizziness / Vertigo
Feeling off balance or lightheaded, or on rare occasions the sense that the room is spinning.
Emotional Changes
Both physically caused, and circumstantially affected, clients can deal with depression, mood swings, irritability and other emotional effects.
