Zoom Class

MS in Motion

Work your body head to toe with special focus on the needs of those with MS. All levels / option to remain seated the entire class. Also offering optional standing and mat movements. Exercise at your own pace with lots of modifications. Build strength, balance, posture, mobility, breath.

This is how a basic class goes:

*Start seated with relaxation breathing, I remind everyone to work at your own pace, take breaks as needed, and that you’re welcome to stay seated the whole time if you choose.

*Next we warm up with upper body mobility movements.

*We move into Foundation Training-style seated spine decompression, with option to stay seated or move into a standing position. We focus on posture, breath, lengthening the spine and strengthening the muscles to support our core.

*Next we do the Nitric Oxide Release – which is a favorite with the group – some stand and some remain seated. This warms up our bodies and gets our hearts pumping a bit, so then we do a cool down to include knee lifts and hamstring curls, heel raises, some balance work – those in the chair are given other balance options. And we often do some gait work.

*We do strength segments that include upper and lower body, along with flexibility and abdominal exercises done seated.

*Depending on the group, we may go to the mat. But some folks stay in their chairs and are given appropriate exercises to simulate the benefit of the mat work.

*We finish with more flexibility and end where we started in the chair with relaxation breathing.

During the class we do work for overall strength but I also include work for hands, feet, ankles, brain challenges – I try to really make it a comprehensive program. Requests and suggestions for favorite movements are always welcome. I hope you’ll give it a try.

Vicki Elliott-Brown, owner of Ellio Pilates, Tai Chi & More teaches “MS in Motion” group class, formerly known as “Pilates for MS”.

Movement is my passion. I love doing it, learning about it, researching it and sharing healthy, safe, productive movement with people of all ages, sizes and skill levels. I have been teaching various forms of movement for over 40 years to include almost all types of aerobics, Tai Chi, Pilates, SilverSneakers, weight lifting and more in group classes and private sessions. I hold certifications in all those movement styles including Pilates for MS & Neurological Conditions and Advanced Neuro Techniques. I hope you’ll try “MS in Motion” and move with me.
